The division has an active program for colon cancer screening and follow up. Among the many procedures and tests that we perform are:
- upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD)
- colonoscopy
- liver biopsy
- endoscopic cholangiography and pancreatography (ERCP)
- video capsule endoscopy (pill camera)
- endoscopic ultrasonography
- abdominal paracentesis
- esophageal manometry
- anorectal manometry
- esophageal and gastric pH (acid) testing
- breath hydrogen testing for lactose intolerance and small bowel bacterial overgrowth

The Gastroenterology Division faculty members provide comprehensive care to patients with digestive disorders, including diseases of the entire intestinal tract, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Among the common gastrointestinal disorders we treat are reflux disease or heartburn, swallowing disorders, ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), gallstones, jaundice, acute and chronic liver diseases including viral hepatitis, and pancreatitis.
